This poem was written in 1875 and published in 1888. This poem has a lot of meaning behind it but I posted it due to the author’s strength while facing adversity. Everyone deals with adversity differently and William Ernest Henley decided to write a poem. He stresses that he is in charge of his fate and the captain of his soul. No matter what happens to you in life, your reaction will determine the outcome. Happening plus reaction equals outcome. Without reaction, you are letting your life happen as is. You must respond and make it happen. This will require you to do more than expected but do not stop until you reach your desired outcome.
